Background/Aims
Eden Court Theatre is an 800 seater receiving theatre in Inverness which serves the Highlands but does not have an in-house professional producing company, however the Education and Outreach department employs 12 full time theatre arts workers, funded by lottery and trust funds, based throughout the Highlands, who reach more than 5000 young people with a skills development programme of workshops and projects for young people of school age, including all abilities and disabilities. Workers are based in Lochaber, Caithness, Skye, Ross-shire, Nairn and Inverness. They complete an annual training programme arranged by Eden Court's Drama Artist, John Batty. The Theatre has recently appointed a Youth Events Co-ordinator, Judith Aitken, to promote youth events at Eden Court and to co-oordinate the work of the Out of Eden youth theatres and youth drama groups throughout the Highlands. A Dance Artist in Inverness completes the team.
